In light of the new Man City takeover by a billionaire oil tycoon from the middle east and the subsequent 32.5 million paid for Robinho, I thought about the idea of a Transfer Window Spending Cap to curtail massive amounts of money being flown around and evening out the playing field.

FIFA would have to enforce this, but it would definitely prevent such huuuge and overinflated spending in the transfer market. It would also cap how much a player is worth. Say each team was only allowed to spend 25 milion pounds per transfer with only 15 million pounds allowed to be spent on a single player. It would significantly decrease over inflated player values and decrease transfer window activity of the big clubs; thus not allowing them to snap up every big player in sight. It would help teams that are smaller financially and even out the playing field in europe and domestically.

It'll never happen, but I think it might be a good idea.

the only way to prevent football from just become corrupt and for the rich is to oppose a wage, salary cap, and a specific amount of mandatory youth players in the 1st team.

i think caps are stupid tho, everything, including money and success (yes, even in football) is entirely cyclical

unless there was one uniform league throughout the world--caps would not work at all

I don't like caps either. They restrict business and I think are only set up to make investors more wealthy!
