Some idiots might say the hate 'America' but in the most part it's bad word choice - the same way people do with the Brits/English - than anything, without sounding too cliche... they hate the system, the government and media monopoly and control that 'America' exerts over their citizens and indeed, the world.

I don't know any lefties, especially the well read, highly political left at St.Pauli who hate individual Americans.
