I say give it to Robson, and if Strachan doesn't play him then Hartley. I would have said Boruc but the whole episode with the polish national team really makes me question his leadership and maturity.

mick is nae a skipper, not a natural born leader. i'd give it to JVOH, but true he can be a bit hot headed at times, understandable though. maybe hartley.

heres another point on mcmanus vs robson. mcmanus we all know was lovely dovey with the huns. robson at halftime some hun tried to talk to him and he gave him a "get out of my face look" and kept on walking. thats how you act on the pitch in a derby match with the huns. be friends with the huns for all i care but dont do it on the pitch ffs.

miren wrote: mcmanus is more honored playing for scotland than playing for celtic--which shows you his mentality--all of us and most ghirls and bhoys in our heart is celtic first-country last i think you're taking that slightly out of context. it is two different feelings having a whole country behind you than having half of it hate you. so i don't question McManus's devotion. just his bottle. the problem i have with that statement is that as a Celtic captain you shouldn't be worried about it. you should accept it and love sticking it to the huns every chance you get. that is the nature of the rivalry. a Celtic captain should do exactly what Robson did last year. clatter the bastards at the beginning of the match (in a good tackle) and tell them we're not gonna be pushed around...send a message and set the tone i mean by no stretch was Lenny a superb player but you could never question his passion and desire.....he was always up for the old firm matches

i think i should change this thread to "mcmanus a footballer?" has to be the worst defender at the club. i seriously wonder if last season naylor sucked because of mcmanus playing on his side. he cant even play well for his beloved scotland against macedonia. dont see him playing well against villareal and manure. needs dropped asap. but he wont be. strachan lacks the courage to go against any of his own decisions.

Yo Mick listen to jamie carragher on this. fucking right and he plays for liverpool not a club like celtic where most of our fans value club before country(s) due to the history and politics of the club Quote: Carragher: Losing with England always hurt less than with Liverpool
Jamie Carragher has revealed that an England defeat 'never hurt me in the same way as losing with my club.'
The Liverpool defender retired from international football in July last year after complaining he was constantly being overlooked as a central defender for the national team. Jamie Carragher
Oh well, never mind: Missing a penalty in the 2006 World Cup quarter-final against Portugal didn't hurt Jamie Carragher as much as some England fans might expect.
The 30-year-old won 34 caps, the last of which saw him miss a penalty as England went out of the 2006 World Cup against Portugal in a shoot-out.
However, Carragher has now revealed: 'I would rather miss for England than LFC.'
Carragher wrote in 'Carra, My Autobiography', serialised in the Daily Mirror: 'Representing your country is the ultimate honour, especially in the World Cup. Not to me.
'Did I care we'd gone out of the tournament? Of course I did. Passionately. I've never given less than 100% in any game.
'Despite this, whenever I returned home from disappointing England experiences one unshakeable, overriding thought pushed itself to the forefront of my mind, no matter how much the rest of the nation mourned. 'At least it wasn't Liverpool,' I'd repeat to myself, over and over.
'The text messages of consolation I received on the coach included one from Kenny Dalglish. 'I would rather miss for England than LFC,' I wrote back.
'I confess: defeats wearing an England shirt never hurt me in the same way as losing with my club.
'I wasn't not caring or indifferent, I simply didn't put England's fortunes at the top of my priority list.
'Losing felt like a disappointment rather than a calamity. I was never in love with playing for England in the first place. By the time I stopped I felt a huge weight lifting.'
