Celtic rival Newcastle for Hamburg's Atouba
Friday 29 August 2008 - 11:13:05 - Click to post or view

The ex-Tottenham defender Timothee Atouba has become surplus to requirements at Hamburg after the arrival of Marcell Jansen from Bayern Munich, and reports are coming in that he has found another club.

Celtic have been linked with him for some time, but a radio report in Hamburg has stated that he was supposed to be flying to Newcastle for a medical today, so everyone was confused when he turned up for training this morning.

With only three days left of the transfer window Atouba will need to make up his mind where he is going, as he is unlikely to get a game for the Bundesliga club.

Celtic fans are desperate to see a left back arrive at Parkhead, and Atouba could be perfect, but Kevin Keegan has money to spend after Milner's departure today and wants more players to arrive.

But where is he going? We will know for sure in a couple of days.
