It's because ESPN is filled with members of the "Red Sox Nation" and have been sucking there dick for so long it's ridiculous. Also the Mavericks have never won a championship, just made the finals.

Well I can tell you that down here in Orlando, I rarely saw anybody with a Red Sox hat, shirt or jersey until 2003...
I'm sure the fans up in New England have indeed been fans for generation after generation -- but down here? Not quite, I must say. There are still more Sox and Yankees fans than either the Rays or the Marlins (both of whom have exceeded expectations this season, especially the Rays).
